Gratitude is a topic that we were taught in kindergarten—be polite, show appreciation, and say ‘thank you.’ This is not a new concept, but maybe one that is underappreciated and sometimes forgotten altogether.

In physics, the theory of perpetual motion is defined as the motion of a body or object that continues forever. I wonder … what if we thought of gratitude and appreciation in the same way—not as intentional acts or planned deeds—but as movement? What if every act of gratitude leads to another … in perpetuity? One kind word leads to another, and another. We don’t always fully realize just how powerful we are. We all have the ability to impact the lives of others with a few simple words and a small gesture of gratitude.

As Everyday Leaders, we need to follow commitment number eightEvery day, I will appreciate all that I have and show gratitude to all.
