Our example matters. We are all striving to create a great culture in our organizations, our teams and our families. Culture is simple. There are two simple truths to remember. First, culture is nothing more than the aggregation of attitudes and behaviors of any group of people. And second, and most important, culture is most highly influenced by the behavioral examples of its leaders.
We must realize that being an example is a double-edged sword and can easily cut both ways. In everything we do, we cast a shadow of our behaviors, both good and bad.
All of this brings us to Commitment #3 of Everyday Leaders: Every day, I will strive to be the example that I want others to follow.
